PDP, ANPP clash in Gwarzo, Kano State

A brother to PDP Senator representing Kano North senatorial Districts has been killed in a PD/ANPP clash in Getso ward of Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State.

The incident, which occurred yesterday when PDP campaign team of the Senator arrived the ward as part of its team of the area, also resulted in the hospitalisation of about ten people who sustained various degrees of injuries during the fracas.

Kano Trust gathered from eyewitnesses that the incident began when some ANPP youth in the area allegedly challenged come PDP youths who began exchanging stones at the rally. The incident later degenerate into a full-scale fight where both sides freely used dangerous weapons.

The late brother of senator Bello Hayatu was said to have sustained serious injuries during the ensuring fracas, which led to his untimely death yesterday. Many of the wounded including supporters of ANPP, have been taken to various private hospital for medical attention.

Unconfirmed reports from the area said the police for questioning has invited some senior members of ANPP in the Gwarzo Local Government Area.

Efforts to speak to the Gwarzo Police Divisional Police Officer, Alhaji Ahmad Zaki, failed when Kano Trust visited the area.

He was said to have travelled to Kano in connection with the accident, but a senior police office at the division confirmed the incident but said investigations was still going on.
