UNPP Guber Aspirants Declare for Akume|
The ranks of former governorship aspirants rallying support for Governor George Akume swelled with the declaration of Mr. J. K. I. Ugella, a United Nigeria Peoples Party (UNPP) chieftain, at a press conference in Makurdi.
Others who had declared support for Akume's re-election are Major General Lawrence Onoja (rtd), Engineer Samuel Utoo and Engineer Peter Abwa, who are also UNPP former governorship aspirants.
Also in Akume's fold is Mr. Mike Kusah, former lecturer at the University of Jos and Bank executive who had aspired to occupy the House of Representatives seat for the Konshisha/Vandeikya constituency on the ticket of the UNPP.
Ugella said last week at briefing which was held at the Banquet Hall of Benue Hotels, that though he was a foundation member of the PDP he left the party to find shelter elsewhere. He regret that however that his sojourn and that of his supporters suffered even greater pain and alienation.
"When Mr. Akume sent word from his hospital bed in Germany that I should remain calm until he returned home for us to talk, I did not need the services of a fortune teller to tell me what was in the offing," Ugella said.
