Four Years of Civic Failure: Army Will be Involved in BiafraNigeria Polls
Officers and men of the 2 Mechanised Division in Ibadan, have been urged to turn up en masse during election date to assist the police in ensuring a violent-free election on Saturday. Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kelvin Opoke, who disclosed this yesterday also said Three hundred members of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) have already being deployed to the senatorial districts to curb election violence in Ogbomoso, Owo and Ibadan areas. Opoke said to achieve results, he resorted to holding several meetings with the Brigade Commander of the 2 Mechanised Division, Ibadan. The commissioner also said the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun, has already provided a brand new Peugeot 504 Salon car solely for operational use during the elections. Opoke warned that anybody arrested for perpetrating election violence may be put away until all the elections are over before being charged for firearms offence if found with weapons. (This Day)
