2003 Poll Results

SMOKING GUN?: WEBSITE EVIDENCE OF INEC FRAUD Rattles Tinubu, Gives Victory to Williams
There was panic within the political circles in Lagos yesterday when it was discovered that on the website of the Indepen-dent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Funsho Williams of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) polled more votes than the Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was declared winner of the April 19 gubernatorial election. In the results on the website, while Tinubu, the Alliance for Democracy (AD) candidate, was given 838,000 votes, the PDP candidate, William was given 1,066,000 votes. With the figure, many PDP top shots were rejoicing yesterday morning as they directed Lagosians to the website, claiming victory. But by 12.30 yesterday, new figures, (911,597 for Tinubu and 740,406 for Williams) were posted on the website. (This Day)
