Who is Behind Okey Udeh?: Court Stops Move to Impeach Anambra Deputy Governor, Rejects Ngige's objection
As the Anambra crisis rages in the legal turf, the Federal High Court, Abuja, yesterday granted an interim order halting ongoing impeachment process against Deputy Governor Okey Udeh. The court also dismissed a preliminary objection by the state Governor, Dr. Chris Ngige, challenging the jurisdiction of the court on the suit filed by Chief Chris Uba seeking to halt his possible arrest and trial for treason... An appeal hearing is due to get under way in northern Biafra Nigeria for a woman convicted of adultery under Islamic law and sentenced to death by stoning. Amina Lawal arrived at the court house and was immediately surrounded by photographers and journalists. The case has caught the attention of human rights groups around the world and has become a focus for opponents of the criminal punishments of stoning... (BBC)

 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleged, yesterday, plot to kill Senator Iyiola Omisore in Agodi Prison, Ibadan where he is currently in prison custody over his trial for the murder of Chief Bola Ige.
