The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday displayed the names of eligible candidates for the April general elections with the name of the Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, missing. The list contains the names of candidates cleared in the 30 registered political parties....[I]nvestigation also reveals that between five and ten names of governorship candidates of the political parties were not.... (This Day)


Benue state governor, Mr. George Akume stormed Makurdi, the Benue State capital yesterday declaring that he has entered into a deal with incumbent president Olusegun Obasanjo which can only be realised if Obasanjo wins his re-election. The governor who returned to Benue state after about two months of medical treatment in Germany also named his arch political rivals and sworn opposition as the architects of rumours of his alleged death and or deteriorating health situation.
