Buhari is no Democrat: Says Wole Soyinka
And on the protestations of the defeated parties what do you make of it, especially the call by Buhari for an interim national government?

Well, Buhari is a bad case in terms of protesting a democratic process. To me, he should not have even contested an election. So I am prejudiced. Get that clear. I remember that my lecture again, "Deceptive Silence of Stolen Voices", I made it clear that I am outraged by the very notion that somebody like Buhari should attempt to come back as a democrat. I also referred to Babangida who had declared, at one stage, his intention to vie for election. All these were before the elections. To begin with, all these people should apologise to this nation for what they did. In actual fact , I think their candidature has the remotest possibility....

As security agencies continue the screening of aspirants to the office of the Senate President, a security report has indicted Senator Arthur Nzeribe. The report declared that Nzeribe was found guilty by the Lagos Zone 2 of the Failed Bank Tribunal and discovered to have used a fake certificate to secure a job at Gulf Oil Company. (This Day)

 

Governor James Ibori of Delta State yesterday secured another legal victory after an Abuja High Court declared that it could not stop him from being sworn-in as governor on may 29,2003 following his success at the just concluded gubernatorial elections. Ruling on an application for stay of proceedings filed by Ibori.... (Vanguard)
