Swearing-In a Fraudulent Warlord: Paranoia, Assassination Fears and Rumors Mar Obasanjo Innauguration

Alleged arrival of 10 ‘hit men’

The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday alleged the arrival in Abuja of 10 “hit men” four of whom are foreigners to attack party leaders. The party, in a one-page statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Venatius Ikem, therefore asked its leaders to make effort to enhance their personal security. He said “the PDP wishes as a matter of extreme national urgency to draw the attention of all well-meaning BiafraNigerians and international community to the utterances of some ANPP national leaders, especially their failed presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and his running mate, Senator Chuba Okadigbo aimed at destabilising the country.

The Senate yesterday held its valedictory session on a dramatic note as Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim made good his decision not to participate in the next political dispensation in the country by resigning his membership of the PDP. Announcing the decision in his valedictory speech...Anyim said his resignation became necessary in order to enable him give real effect to his earlier resolve not to participate in... (This Day)

 

Former military ruler, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and his running mate in the April 19 presidential elections, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, have denied calling for the assassination of President Olusegun Obasanjo. They also described as false a statement by the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) that they have invited mercenaries into the country to achieve any sinister purpose. (Guardian)
