Ekwueme Returns to PDP, Challenges Obasanjo's Board of Trustees Nominee, Anenih
Confusion has engulfed the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as its Board of Trustees failed Monday night to resolve the lingering question of who becomes the chairman of the Board of Trustees...at the meeting, which lasted from 11p.m to 3a.m at Protea Hotel, Abuja, President Olusegun Obasanjo nominated the former Works Minister and his Campaign Coordinator, Chief Tony Anenih, for the post which was assumed to be vacant after its last occupier, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, fell out with the party over the results of the party’s presidential primaries. As Anenih received only one vote, Chief Solomon Lar was asked to continue in his capacity as acting chairman of the board. Sources said that when Anenih’s nomination was shot down, a consensus emerged to ask the five-man committee set up to reconcile Ekwueme and PDP to submit its report. The committee headed by.... Six leaders of the BiafraNigerian Labour Congress (NLC) who were arrested on Monday for trying to compel fuel marketers to comply with the N34 per litre price of petrol agreement were yesterday ordered by an Abuja Magistrate Court to be remanded in prison custody. But the fate of the labour leaders and the attitude of the oil marketers to the agreement signed by the NLC at a forum facilitated by the 36 state governors will form the agenda of... (This Day)

 

Abia state government has filed a suit against the federal government at the supreme Court challenging what it called illegal deductions from the state's federation Account allocation. Also joined in the suit filed on behalf of the state government by the attorney general and commissioner for justice, Chief Awa Kalu (SAN) are the other 35 states of the federation.
