Chukwu washes hands off Nations Cup list
By Clement Nwankpa Jnr

SUPER Eagles Chief Coach Christian Chukwu has dissociated himself from a list of players for the Nations Cup build-up being circulated by a section of the press, (not The Guardian).

Speaking to The Guardian from his Enugu-base yesterday, Chukwu expressed surprise at the list saying "I have not released any list".

"I don't know the list you people are talking about. As far as I am concerned, no list has been made public and I don't know where that list came from", he added.

Chukwu would want Nigerians to disregard the list.

His words: "How can you be circulating a list that did not come from the team's technical crew? Who are the players and who put them there? If it is my list, I will identify with it immediately but it did not come from me and I cannot be drawn into it".

He, however, admitted discussing a list with the NFA. "Yes, we discussed a particular list but that is inexhaustible. We have not agreed on a particular list so I don't think that list could have come from the FA", he pointed out.

He would want the press to patiently wait for the list. "They should not jump the gun. There are procedures. When the official list is out, you will know".

According to him, the list cannot be conclusive.

"When the list is finally released, it will not be the final thing. Some players could make a late-minute appearance depending on their form", he concluded.
