Wabara Must Go: Senators Move to Impeach Wabara Tomorrow
Senators clamouring for the removal from office of Senate President Adolphus Wabara have vowed to move an impeachment motion tomorrow when the Senate reconvenes, accusing the Senate President of irregularities in the award of contracts and high-handedness in sharing funds. The moves began at the weekend, as a group anti-Wabara Senators met at the Apo legislators quarters to finalise plans for the removal of Wabara who they accused of lack of transparency and highhandedness in the running of the affairs of the Senate. In a telephone interview with Daily Trust yesterday, Senator Abu Ibrahim confirmed that consultations had reached an advanced stage and that Senators were working seriously to remove their leadership. Senator Abu Ibrahim who refused to disclose his position on the matter affirmed: "Definitely something may happen between today and tomorrow. Even if we are going to do it, it has to be according to the rules and it has to be on the floor of the Senate. (Daily Trust)
