MASSOB Lists Ceasefire Terms: Give Chief of Defence Staff Chief of Army Staff and IGP to Biafrans
Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) said it would give up the clamour for Biafra if the Federal Government gave Ndigbo three top positions. The positions are Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Inspector-General of Police (IGP). Without these, the organisation said, outcry for a sovereign Biafra will be unceasing. Chief Commissioner for Mobilisation for MASSOB, Abuja Circuit, Chief Ejim E. S. Okoro said the organisation would honour its promise once Ndigbo are appointed to the three sensitive positions. In a statement issued yesterday and signed by Chief Okoro and another MASSOB commissioner, Prince R. K. James, they said the agitation for Biafra "was heightened by our conviction that 30 years after the civil war ended, the Igbo have not been fully re-integrated into the mainstream of the Nigerian state."
