    Adeboye, 29 others bag Osun award

    ABIODUN FELIX, Osogbo

    GENERAL Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye; General Manager, 3SC Football Club Chief Adegboye Onigbinde and 14-year-old Miss Ifeoluwapo Adeniyi, who had authored four novels, were among the 30 persons to be honoured by the Osun State Government next week.

    The award which is part of the activities marking the 13th anniversary of the creation of the state, will also be extended posthumously to the slain immediate past member of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Odunayo Olagbaju the founder of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Worldwide, Osogbo, Prophet Ezekiel Babalola and Prof. Theophilus Odetola.

    Head of Service, (HOS), Mr. Segun Akinwusi, who is also the chairman of the Merit Award Committee told newsmen yesterday in Osogbo, the state capital, that 30 names were shortlisted out of 155 nominations screened by the committee.

    Also to be honoured, he said include the Managing Director of the Sun Newspapers, Mr. Mike Awoyinfa; the publisher, Ovation Magazine, Mr. Dele Momodu and the Chairman Board of Directors, State Broadcasting Corporation, Dr. Yemi Farounbi in the media category.

    Akinwusi stressed that the individuals were found worthy in their various fields of endeavours "hence, the state government hopes to show that patriotism, hard work and integrity in service will no longer go unrewarded."

    On the yardstick used in picking the awardees, the HOS said "the award recipients were painstakingly selected from a total number of 155 nominations submitted by individuals, corporate bodies, unions and communities and agencies of government in response to our advertisement."

    He said among the nominees are Chief Jimoh Buraimoh an artiste, Mrs. Kehinde Agbolade, a hard working traffic warden, Prof. Olu Aina, an educationist and former Registrar, National Board for Business and Technical Education (NBBTE).
