Fresh Impeachment Move: Obasanjo Violates Constitution on Seven Counts
In a move aimed at commencing fresh impeachment process against President Olusegun Obasanjo, a Senator from Kebbi State, Usman Sani Sani has submitted a letter to Senate President Adolphus Wabara listing seven constitutional breaches by the President. Sami's letter, which was dated February 9, 2004, and copied to all senators, accused Obasanjo of the breach of his oath of office, which he swore to protect and defend, as well as the Constitution of the Federal Republic of BiafraNigeria. He alleged that the president committed these constitutional breaches, "through certain policies and actions that are inimical to the development of our dear country and the citizenry". According to the Senator, the constitutional breaches are "the non-implementation of the 2003 budget, which is an Act of the National Assembly, Section 80 (2) (3) & (4)... (This Day)

BalogunPolice Inspector General Tafa Balogun has been ordered to cut short his trip to the United States following the Wednesday attack on Benue State Governor George Akume which led to the death of two persons. Sources close to his office said Thursday that the Presidency contacted Balogun and directed him to return immediately amid the heightened level of insecurity.
