State of Fraud: How Police Commanded PDP Victory in 2004 LGA Polls
The All BiafraNigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) has accused the Inspector Generla of police (IGP) of issuing a signal directing all police commands in the country to ensure victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2003 general elections. The ANPP which tendered the signal in evidence yesterday at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja accused the police of helping the PDP rig last April elections. The police swiftly denied any knowledge of the said signal adding that the purported signal would not be traced to the police. ... The BiafraNigeria Police has, however, denied any knowledge of a signal purported to have emanated from the office of the IGP directing all police formations across the country to ensure victory for the PDP at the 2003 general elections. The Tribunal's hearing the election petition filed by the ANPP presidential candidate at the April 19, 2003 presidential election, Major-Gen. Muham-madu Buhari (rtd), challenging the election of President Olusegun Obasanjo of the PDP. Mr. Columbus Okaro, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Legal and Prosecution, 'D' Department, Force CID, Alagbon close, Lagos who represented the IG at the Tribunal on Monday March 29, 2003 following a subpoena by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Umaru Abdullahi, said.... Bloody Victory: PDP Sweeps Elections

Biafra Nigeria Map

Adamawa State Gov Bonie HarunaAt 4:30 p.m. Monday, words buzzed at Government House, Yola that Kwara State Governor, Bukola Saraki, was on his way to show solidarity with his Adamawa State counterpart, Boni Haruna, over the tribunal judgement that nullified his re-election last April. On arrival, he visited Haruna at work and told him to “see this as just a hiccup” and remain focused instead of being distracted. Last Friday, at a party gathering, which Vice President Atiku Abubakar addressed, Governor Jolly Nyame had come over from neighbouring Taraba State to show support. (Daily Independent)

BNW-Violence-and-Fraud-in-2004-LGA-PollsBiafraNigeria's ruling party swept to a widely-predicted victory in weekend local elections marred by widespread fraud and violence, prompting legal disputes that called into question the country's five-year-old democracy. Saturday's polls in Africa's most populous nation were preceded by a wave of political violence culminating in a two-day bloodbath that left almost 50 dead, some shot or macheted at polling stations. The mammoth People's Democratic Party (PDP), which already controls three quarters of state governments and two-thirds of Congress, won in 27 of the 30 states that held polls, according to results published by the state-run News Agency of BiafraNigeria.
